ICP Talks: Lola Flash on Creative Activism

  • International Center of Photography (map)

Photographer and activist Lola Flash has been making work that highlights the importance of showing underrepresented expressions of gender identity, sexuality, and racial norms for over three decades. At the forefront of genderqueer politics, Flash uses her camera to connect and bring visibility to LGBTQIA+ communities and to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions. From being a leading artistic voice involved with ACT UP during the AIDS crisis, to taking the streets this summer in protest of the killing of George Floyd and support of the Black Lives Matter movement, Flash’s work is rooted in creative activism.

This program will take place on Zoom. Those who register to attend will receive a confirmation email with a link located at the bottom of the email under ‘Important Information’ to join the lecture through a computer or mobile device.
