Evolution explores the concepts of progress, transformation, growth, and advancement in an age when images are taking a dramatic shift in the role they play in our lives.
New objects will be on display for the first time with the presentation of a new gallery display on the first floor entitled, “The Classical World in Context,” which provides a comprehensive understanding of classical Greek and Roman art with the influence of ancient civilizations such as: Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Phoenicia
This past Sunday, November 12, at Paris Photo, the Ader Nordmann auction house in Paris organized an auction of rare photographs by Eugène Atget dealing with a somewhat ignored subject: horses.
Karlheinz Weinberger uses the attributes of the Halbstarke to shore up their identity in his portraits. He adds light-hearted references when they go dark. At times, these barely-grown young men awkwardly attempt to express power and strength, manifesting imperious, vital desires with extreme candour.
Smith’s lifelong fascination with eulogy and remembrance is reflected in her selection of portraits by Richard Avedon, intimate photographs by Cy Twombly and Sally Mann, as well as the more objective gaze of Andy Warhol, in his photograph of the Empire State Building, and Taryn Simon, in her meticulous restaging of floral centerpieces from the signings of political accords and treaties.
