Danny Lim, Malaysian Chinese born and raised in Malaysia. His work focus on fashion and portraiture photography. His approach is mainly direct and straight forward, he love to capture the realness of his subject. He currently resides in New York City.
About the Project: Green
This book, Green, is my first self published photo book taken in 2021 and 2022 in Stockholm, Sweden. It was after covid, things are slowly getting back to normal but still awkward. I took my first trip to Stockholm alongside my partner. I spend almost a month there.. It was also coincidental that we live close to a school that is called ‘Kulturama’. I was amazed by the school kids' dressing going to class. After a week or two of observation, I had an interest to photograph them. I approach them and take their portraits, most of them are really shy and not chatty. I really like the contrast of them being shy but really expressive on the other side. This reflects back to me when I was in school as a student, we have a certain dress code and rules to follow.“ Green” is a 36-page photo book made by foraging through Danny Lim’s photographs taken in Sweden. Portraits of Stockholm’s youth, shy but bold in their personal styles, stand out against the country’s quiet natural landscape growing from fall into winter.
