Writing and Photography by Raluca Lupascu

About the artist: Raluca Lupascu was born on the Black Sea shore of Romania. She has a degree in journalism and is a self-taught photographer.

She started to take photography more seriously around 2020, and from the very beginning she was attracted to artistic and conceptual photography as well as surrealism and the abstract. She stated, “for myself, it was not difficult to define my own style in photography. I felt what I wanted from an artistic point of view even before mastering the camera.”

Her passion for portraiture and digital creations stemmed from her first loves: literature and then theater. So for that reason you will find various characters from novels, stories, or screenplays within her photographs.

About the project:

As per my techniques, I like to play with long exposure time, make double exposures, create various effects using the baby lens. I like to play creatively in digital perspective to describe my emotions and moods and then edit a photo considerably.

My inspiration comes from everything I read, from the movies I watch, or paintings I admire. At the same time, I am also inspired by my memory, the sum of all my feelings over the years.

What I know is that I really like to create with a lot of voluptuousness. What defines me is the fact that I put a lot of myself in every visual or photography creation. My intention is to get anchored in the contemporary art as much as possible.

I want to create as many photographic projects as possible to share a message, a manifesto or to talk about aspects of life in general and of the society we live in particular. I am especially attracted to the female psychology: what a woman feels, what she must endure, the grace and the sublime. That's why I use myself as a model quite often, because I can best express what I feel.
