Aretha Franklin, the legendary singer and songwriter known as the “Queen of Soul,” died today Thursday, August 16. Franklin was severely ill and surrounded by family and loved ones in Detroit, the legendary singer died at the age of 76 after a battle with advanced pancreatic cancer. She was one of the most influential performers of the 20th century.
