A meteor shower was on its way—the weatherwoman let us know. And so, those of us who were up for the trip climbed the highest hill in town, which is free from crowded skylines.
The trek was long, and steeper than I’d expected. When we arrived, we laid on our backs and breathed deeply. I pulled out my phone to distract myself from my companion’s labored breathing.
After what felt like a second, I looked up and found each member of my group had done the same. It was a sorry sight.
Before I could reprimand, a shooting star danced across the sky.
