Why do we do it? Why do we join the long lines that lead to the boat that “everyone talks about”?

These are the questions I asked myself at seven-years-old as my parents led me to the boat tour that was supposed to be “so good.”

I looked at the dark storm clouds approaching. The whole idea of standing in a crowd in the middle of a river was scaring me, and the red ponchos they made us wear didn’t help.

I took a deep breath and smiled a fake smile that would last me for a while. But inside I was jello.
