The first day of school was fast approaching once again. It was soon to be Parker’s entrance into fifth grade and Cecilia’s entrance into feeling incredibly old. She’d only had one kid, the best kid in her humble opinion, and had tried for ten years to maintain her heart’s childlike beat.
Today, however, horror struck her as she and Parker walked hand in hand by the campus and she spotted the picture of her childhood education dusty and discarded on the curb.
The sight of one of those hunks of junk being rolled in on a rainy day stayed in her mind—a memory sweet as candy.
