Ladder to the Moon
Written by: Emma Mathes
She’d had enough of gazing, longing, and inaction. It sparkled through her window, mocking inadequacy. And in anger, she ran to the shed. Tonight was the night she’d catch it.
Millions of words penned by poets, yet nothing captured its transcendence. She would climb, and climb and climb, until face to face they looked at each other.
But the rungs refused to shrink the distance. She rose from the ground, but the top of the ladder was no closer.
After a mile, she stopped. It stared back at her with its huge, white face and all she could do was laugh.
