Back then, I was dreaming in color every night. And every dream was the same: an orange landscape with a feeling of overwhelming yearning.

Two black men would make their way to each other, patiently and thoughtfully. As it is sometimes in dreams, nothing was said, but I understood everything. Every night, I’d wait for their embrace, which never came.

They say that vivid dreams are most important. My brain was screaming at me to leave the closet. “Get out of there, and make your way to him,” it said, every night.

Every night, until, I would finally listen.
