It was a bright and sunny day in March 2020 as I took one of my frequent photo walks around the streets of New York City. As I approached Times Square, I was drawn to the beautiful shadows created by the passersby and began to look for the makings of an interesting image.

Along Broadway, it is not unusual to see dancing ladies dressed in Bob Fosse-inspired costumes, selling tickets to shows like “Chicago” or “Cabaret.” Once I saw the red tights, I knew I had found an appealing subject. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take multiple photos and fine-tune the shadow placement.

Little did I know at the time that it would be quite a while before I could resume my frequent walks through the city, as coronavirus restrictions were put in place later that month.
