A lot of your work is centered on human body expression. Do you think your experience of studying fashion design in Italy affects your work?

Studying fashion design in Italy brings a huge impact on my aesthetics. And many of my artworks have some fashion elements, especially during my studies and creation in London. Because I got many suggestions from my tutor, there were some adjustments in ""I AM FINE"" this series. But with this, I feel that I was in the middle of fashion and art, which causes great distress at that time.

Can you tell us a bit about your project “I am Fine: Not Completely Falling Apart"? Would you consider it as an autobiographical narrative?

This series is about the thinking of ""Fragility."" Because of COVID, I was quarantined in a small room. And in that confined and narrow space, there would be a lot of in-depth thinking, about these issues that occurred in my life. And I have been very depressed during that time. This feeling brought me back to the room where I was born. From the current fragility retrospect to the childhood trauma. Lately, I see the undiscovered fragile part of people close to me. And the title of this project came from the phone call with my friends. As we always say “How are you?” People always answer: “I’m fine.”

It does reveal me in part, but it’s not entirely about myself. I'm trying to start from myself and elicit the resonance of other people.

I really enjoy your work “sense”, there is a quiet, realistic, and powerful trait in this photograph. How did you come up with the idea of expressing her (The elder) state with sand?

This came to my mind when I visited my grandma. At the time, I felt like time was passing by, like sand. Here is an interesting story during the shooting. I told my grandma: ""I want to take a picture of you."" She was very happy and prepared beautiful clothes, and she was about to start smiling at the camera. She thought it was the kind of gorgeous photo on social networks. When I said to bury her in the sand, she looked at me in horror. ""Don't worry, I will let you breathe"" I said.

In your opinion, what is fragility?

Fragility is not a simple, incorrigible weakness. It's what we all have in common. When I started to accept my fragile part, I became stronger instead. In my opinion, everyone has a fragile part, but everyone is appealing: You should strengthen your heart. I think that fragility is not a negative thing, and accepting the fragile nature of human beings is also accepting the entire self.

Describe your creative process in one word.

Torture

If you could teach a one-hour class on anything, what would it be?

I feel that I have nothing to teach others. I’m still in the stage of learning and self-cultivation. I would let them sleep for an hour."

What was the last book you read or film you saw that inspired you?

I read many books at the same time, and I don’t focus on one book. I'm easily distracted by other things actually. My inspiration comes more from the imagination generated by the description of the text. Because I‘m always immersed in my imagination, I missed the thoughts what the book itself wants to express. The authors must hate me a lot.

What is the most played song in your music library?

No, I like a song for one day, and the next day I change my heart.

How do you take your coffee?

White Coffee (sugar free) all the time. On this point, I‘m very devoted."
