Lisa Blas: Instagram Takeover

Greetings,

My name is Lisa Blas, and I am delighted to announce that I will be doing an Instagram takeover of Musée Magazine in November while traveling on research in Ireland.

I am a painter based in New York and I work extensively with or from photography. My paintings are informed by my immediate environment as well as the outer world. Dawn studio, the body of work I commenced in 2020 during the pandemic, was generated from a process of waking at dawn, observing the western sky meeting the Hudson River, and making paintings based on the change in light and color as the morning arrives. While working, I take photographs of Dawn studio in progress -- the dining room table where paintings on paper or wood panels sit next to each other. These images are ephemeral still lifes captured by the camera, that I later produce as dye sublimation prints on silk or aluminum. Painting and photography exist together in my practice, one informing the other.

While in Ireland, I will be visiting museum collections and specific exhibitions in four cities. Please join me for a special reportage on this region, and a window into art and its effects across the pond.
