Mama whispered in my ear. She gave me a plan of action, and I giggled with innocence. I’d never done anything like this before. It was thrilling.

Dad was reading in the yard, our chickens clucking merrily around him. He was unsuspecting, which only made it funnier.

I snuck across the yard, attempting to make as little sound as possible. When it was time, I let the hose rip a large rush of water. Dad screamed instantly, and I laughed with glee.

This is one of the purest memories of my childhood that I have today. Everything else is muddled with confusion.
