ANDREA BLANCH: As a cancer researcher and synthetic biologist, what inspired you to turn these cells into art?

TAL DANINO: …when you get into the words and the details of explaining the science, people get lost very quickly. Not because they’re not capable; it’s just not an everyday language that we use. It’s a little bit isolating to learn about sciences in that way, but there’s something about the arts that makes our research and science more palatable, a lot easier to understand.
