Join Hasselblad and Musée Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Andrea Blanch, as she hosts an Artist Talk, featuring Mona Kuhn, Rachel Perry and Molly Soda.

The three artists all explore, in their unique contrasting styles, the visual representations of the female body in art and the manipulation of perspectives to create psychological intrigue. These artists will show their work and come to talk about their creative processes, related to representations of women now.

About the Artists:
Mona Kuhn is a contemporary photographer best known for her large-scale photographs of the human form. Her approach is unusual in that she develops close relationships with her subjects, resulting in images of remarkable intimacy. Born in São Paulo, Brazil to parents of German ancestry, Mona Kuhn lives and works in Los Angeles, United States.
Rachel Perry has participated in group shows at Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany; The Drawing Center, New York; the Institute of Contemporary Art Boston; and had solo shows at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (2016), DeCordova Museum, and Yancey Richardson Gallery. Perry’s work is held in museums and private collections around the world. She has been reviewed in Art in America, The New Yorker, The New York Times, and appeared in extensive articles in Harvard Business Review and Sculpture Magazine. Her four-page pictorial essay was published in Vogue in December 2011. Perry lives and works in Ipswich, Massachusetts and Brooklyn, New York.
Molly Soda is a Brooklyn-based artist and internet celebrity. Soda works across a variety of digital platforms, producing videos, GIFs, zines, and web-based performance art, which are presented both online and in gallery installations in a variety of forms. Her work explores the technological mediation of self-concept, contemporary feminism, cyberfeminism, mass media and popular social media culture. Since 2011, Molly Soda has worked out of Chicago, Detroit and New York.
About the Moderator:
Carol Kino writes about all aspects of visual art and culture. Now a frequent contributor to WSJ. magazine, she was previously a regular contributor to The New York Times. Her work has also appeared in 1stdibs Introspective, Cultured, Town & Country, The Atlantic, Slate, and many other publications, as well as most of the major art magazines, including Art in America, Artnews, and Art + Auction, where she was a Contributing Editor from 2001-2008. She has been a USC Annenberg Getty Arts Journalism Fellow twice, in 2007 and 2011. She is currently working on a book for Scribner called The Fair-Haired Girls: The Twin Photographers Who Helped Define the Fashion Magazines of 1940s New York, the untold story of the McLaughlin twins, who joined the ranks of a circle of groundbreaking female photographers in the magazine industry while men were off fighting in World War II, and changed the way women saw and were seen. Frances McLaughlin-Gill was the first and only woman on staff in Conde Nast’s photo studio, working for Vogue and Glamour, while Kathryn Abbe worked for career girl magazines like Charm and Mademoiselle.
About the Founder of Musée Magazine:
Andrea Blanch is a New York-based award-winning fashion, fine art and conceptual photographer. She began her photographic career under the tutelage of Richard Avedon, with her first client being American Vogue. Blanch is referred to as "the woman who knows how to capture a woman."
She has lectured at the Smithsonian Institution and teaches regularly at The International Center of Photography; Art to Fashion, Fashion to Art. This past summer Blanch curated The Billboard Creative and participated in portfolio reviews as well. Andrea Blanch is the Founder/Editor In Chief of Musée Magazine, a non-profit photography based publication and website that showcases both emerging and established artists alike.
She currently lives in New York.
