The Last Photograph of Philip Seymour Hoffman

The talented and beloved actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s last public appearance before his sudden death on February 2nd was at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in January. This blood-curdling and forboding tintype photograph was taken of Hoffman around that same time by Victoria Will. The look of isolation cannot be ignored, and Will creates an ambiance of suffering and distance and sadness that inevitably leads the viewer to directly link it to his cause of death.

A tintype is produced by an image being exposed to a thin sheet of iron to produce a photograph. This one is said to be the last photograph taken of Hoffman.
