Evening Screenings: July 2nd: Hiroshi Sugimoto
Born in Tokyo in 1948, Hiroshi Sugimoto moved to the United States in 1970 to study photography. A multi-disciplinary artist, Sugimoto works in photography, sculpture, installation, and architecture. His art bridges Eastern and Western ideologies while examining the nature of time, perception, and the origins of consciousness.
Evening workshops
In the context of the photography workshops it runs, the Rencontres d’Arles organises screening-encounters once a week from 8 July to 17 August.
These open-air evenings, unfolding in a convivial atmosphere in the heart of Arles, bring together the photographers who devise the various workshops. These special moments allow the audience to discover the photographers’ work and careers, as well as their approach to, and their vision of photography, through slide screenings and through question-and-answer sessions.
