Fragmented Memories: The Familiar.

Written by Thalia Romanos

“Each of the images in this series represent moments from the past and present that are fragments of recognizable memories. I wanted to portray my memories of road trips or time spent with loved ones and friends in a way that a broader audience could relate to. These flashes of life that we see over and over again; cars flying down the street, an astonishing sunset, red brake lights shining on your face. These moments seem miniscule but can create this universal connection between so many people, they are pieces of familiar feelings and moments.” -Tammy-Mariah Gill

In honor of National Photography Day coming up, who is the most influential photographer to you, and why?
I don't really have one most influential photographer, but a few photographers that I look to for inspiration are: @xkylar (Skylar), @drelladarko (Paige Marguiles), and @benjaminmlieber (Benjamin Lieber). Each of these artists have a specific style and creative process that I really connect with from redefining physical spaces, to the use of bold ecstatic colors and laying within their work.

Describe your creative process in one word.
Additive.

If you could teach a one-hour class on anything at all, what would it be?
It would probably be some sort of mixed media course. I enjoy playing around with many different art mediums so I would have the students in the class experiment with different materials so that they can see that there aren’t any limitations when it comes to creating.

What is the last book that you have read or film you watched that has inspired you?
Break Your Glass Slippers by Amanda Lovelace (poetry book) was a great read.

What is the most played song in your music library at the moment?
Keep it up by Rex Orange County.

How do you take your coffee?
I don't drink coffee, but I do like sweet hot chocolate with LOTS of marshmallows.

I love the color and motion that is captured in your photos at concerts and with musicians. What mood do shows convey to you when you press the shutter?
The mood of the shows I attend is usually quite energetic and chaotic. So when I am capturing certain moments throughout the night, I think about how I can freeze the essence and vibrancy of what's happening around me.
