Folorida Museum of Photographic Art | January 28, 2022 - May 29, 2022

The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) is proud to present a retrospective exhibition of the works of legendary photographer Paul Caponigro. The exhibition showcases Paul Caponigro’s lifelong spiritual approach to capturing natures essence in conversation with two photographers deeply affected by Caponigro: Pradip Malde and Dr. David Dennard. This retrospective celebrates Caponigro's intuitive approach to celebrating nature through photography and pays tribute to all teachers and the immeasurable impact they can have on their students. An opening reception and a welcome talk by Dr. David Dennard on his experiences with Paul Caponigro in and out of the darkroom takes place on Friday, January 28, 2022, at 6 p.m.

International Center of Photography | January 28, 2022 - May 2, 2022

How big can a photograph be? And how small? Actual Size! Photography at Life Scale, on view at the International Center of Photography (ICP) from January 28 through May 2, 2022, is a playful yet philosophical exhibition of more than 20 diverse images that share the same dimensions as life itself. Curated by David Campany, ICP’s managing director of programs, and conceived especially for ICP’s unique double-height gallery and 30-foot spotlight wall, the exhibition is a rethinking of the fundamental qualities of the elastic medium of photography in which images can be reproduced as small as postcards or as large as billboards regardless of their real-life dimensions.

Obscura Gallery | January 28, 2022 - March 26, 2022

Obscura Gallery is thrilled to announce our first exhibition of 2022, “Invisible World,” by Obscura Gallery artist Nevada Wier. Using her own unique palette created from infrared photography, Nevada presents photographs of tribal cultures from remote regions around the world through the lens of her own rigged infrared camera. While based in Santa Fe, Nevada typically spends nearly 99% of the year traveling the world on assignment and leading workshops, specializing in documenting the various cultures of the world. She is recognized for her creative and intimate approach to photographing people. Grounded due to the global spread of COVID-19, Wier has remained at home during the pandemic probably more than ever in her working life. But she has used the occasion to dive into her years-long archive of inspiring infrared photographs, which form this exhibition. We are thrilled to present a selection of over twenty images at Obscura, making the invisible visible through Nevada’s use of infrared photography.
