You mentioned you are a self-taught photographer. Can you tell us how you started on photography?
I started getting into photography when I came across someone who used a Polaroid to create double exposures. I simply wanted to figure out how he did it. So I bought my first film camera, and I learned everything I know from experimenting.

Your images show a kind of soft luscious light with a strong lomographic touch. How did you conceptualize and develop these images? Can you tell us about your process?

The creative process for me is born of the desire to explore, and sometimes the result comes about entirely by accident. When I see something around me that piques my interest, I just pick up the camera and shoot. That’s why I don’t like to lay out my projects in advance. I want to give the subject a certain vitality. Whether it’s still life or people, I prefer not to stick to rigid rules, instead opting for a more emotional approach and different visual experiments.

If you were to compare your work to a person, what kind of person would she/he/they be? Can you describe the appearance, age, trait, etc?
Asexual, fragile appearance, sensitive but tough inside, eyes full of curiosity, no actual age, a little shy but one of a kind.

From what I can see, most of your work is single pieces, Does sequence seem important to you? What is the ideal way for the audience to view your work?

The way the audience views my work matters to me. I like the physicality of printed photobooks – a book stays forever as a beautiful well-designed object, as something that could stand the test of time. It also adds a very personal touch because it allows me to tell a story the way I want to.

What projects are you currently working on? Can you tell us a bit about your next step?
I’m thinking about compiling a book focused on the main theme of the mysterious. The entire process of publishing books takes a lot of time and effort, but I really want to keep doing it as long as possible.

Describe your creative process in one word.
Random!

If you could teach a one-hour class on anything,  what would it be?
How I work with natural light to achieve something magical.

What was the last book you read or film you saw that inspired you?
I read a lot of contemporary poems by different poets recently. They all touched me in some way, so I can’t single out a specific one.
As for movies, it would have to be Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch. I can draw inspiration from the way he uses new and exciting visual ideas to tell a story.

What is the most played song in your music library?
I’m actually surprised that it seems to be Agoraphobia by Deerhunter.

How do you take your coffee?
I barely ever drink coffee, so I don’t really have a preference. I’m more of a tea person, particularly floral teas.
