This iron butterfly has been in front of my neighbor’s door for a long time. Before I was working on my photo series “Metamorphosis,” I never gave an attention to it. One day, when I realized the life of Julie now is similar to a cocoon becoming a butterfly, this object felt special to me. It was special because it was a butterfly but not a real butterfly. Julie became an adult but not in a way she had wanted to be. There were choices that she did not want to make but her situations and parents have forced her to choose otherwise. I wanted to show that “Metamorphosis” is not the end of this story. That is why this photo concludes this series. This butterfly is not real and this is not Julie’s real end. She will be a real butterfly in the future.
