Ryan McGinley “Pretty Free”
Marlborough is pleased to present Pretty Free, a solo exhibition by the American artist Ryan McGinley. The show comprises photographs from several years, but with a particular emphasis on works from 2020. Centered on an ongoing exploration of the nude as a potent genre that spans centuries of art history, McGinley situates his subjects in a dynamic variety of contexts—from the studio to the great outdoors. Printed both in black and white and color on a wide-range of supports including satin, vinyl decals and traditional C-prints, the photographs range in scale from outsized commercial banners to intimately framed works creating a holistic investigation of the human body in space.

Photostories
Photostories Canada is a searchable resource of over 800 photostories created between 1955 and 1971 by the National Film Board of Canada’s Still Photography Division.
A photostory combines images and text to tell a story. For the Still Photography Division, the focus of the story was Canada. Through photographs and photostories, a portrait of nationhood was created and promoted within Canada and abroad.

PROJECTION 001: DANIEL RAMPULLA “WILD PLACE”
Artist Daniel Rampulla talks about his work and influences ahead of his solo exhibition, “Wild Place.”
"By the time I was in my mid-twenties I realized that I had a lot of unhealed scars from my adolescence that were consuming my body and mind. It actually hurt to look back on those times while in the closet; lying to myself and others and feeling guilty for wanting relationships with other men.”
