I’ve Loved Some of These People
There are different ways of having a relationship. The preeminence of a heterosexual monogamous relationship is becoming more outdated, especially among the younger community. Still, polyamory is a sensitive and unfamiliar subject for most people.
My former partner, Nick, and I were together for seven years. In the final year of our relationship, we found ourselves in stable relationships with a third person at two separate times. Each instance evolved naturally and organically. At a certain point, the time came to bring each into our lives, as a lover and a boyfriend.
The first, Issac, was patient, kind, and affectionate. Being with him felt right. He ended up breaking my heart, and now we’re friends.
In the summer, Nick introduced me to a handsome boy, also named Nick. What began as a series of sexual encounters slowly evolved into something deeper. We spent almost all of our time together, we called each other boyfriends, and we told each other “I love you.” Nick and Nick ended up together, and I’ve fallen in love with many people since.
I believe there is no end to the amount of love that someone can provide. There isn’t a one-person limit to what I can give, and I’ve loved Nick, Isaac, Nick, and many others for different and similar reasons.
