Woman Crush Wednesday: Zhu Lanqing
Janus on the Mountains.
What were your intentions when you started the project?
The Wild Alps has gradually become a beautiful, touching symbol of the tourism promotion. The boundaries of “wideness” are blurred, and new "wildness" is written. I want to present this change or to present something in between seemingly still unknown, dangerous, and wild.
Love how you have enhanced the reds and the way that they play against the white snow. Could you elaborate on your post processing and the intentions behind the decisions?
Snow is like a white canvas. Everything in color is highlighted. I didn't do post-processing deliberately, just trying to make the colors look mysterious.
Absolutely love the collages. Could you tell us how were you able to obtain old photos and your reasoning for having the old photos part of your series which is very contemporary?
Old photos, maps, and postcards were collected from the local thrift stores and second-hand flea markets. As a derivative of tourism, postcards usually appear in the form of templates. I like looking at the images and having a connection with the place before, making a collage from the collected pictures and seeing the difference between then and now.
