Art Out: Don Herron – Tub Shots
Largely self-taught in photography, Don Herron began photographing people in their bathtubs in the early 1970s, having been inspired by medieval sculptures set in niches. After moving to New York City in 1978, Herron became part of the vibrant East Village art scene of the 1970s and 1980s and continued his bathtub series expanding his subject matter from visual artists to performing artists. Subjects of his portraits include Jackie Curtis, Belle de Jour, Holly Woodlawn, Keith Haring, among others. For more information click here.
