With only four days left of the opening week of Les Rencontres d’Arles photo festival, Musée will provide you with a daily narrowed down list of the most coveted events taking place through Sunday, including exhibition tours, workshops, lectures and off course, parties we wish we could attend.

Best known for his documentation of war and strife, Don McCullin has made a name for himself photographing the Vietnam War and the Northern Ireland conflict. After nearly loosing his life to a bullet that was fortunately caught by his Nikon camera, the British photojournalist took some of The Beatle’s most iconic photographs for the series “A Mad Day Out.” The day has begun with a guided tour -lead by McCullin himself -of his photographic exhibition at Église Sainte-Anne. McCullin will also be part of a book signing later during the day with featured photographers Eamonn Doyle, Alinka Echeverria, Laia Abril, Luce Lebart and João Pina.

As part of the series of lectures of Les Rencontres Olympus, Eamonn Doyle and Ethan Levitas will converse on New Issues of Street Photography. Irish photographer and music producer Eamonn Doyle is best known for his street photography in and around Dublin’s city centre. Ethan Levitas, on the other hand, originally having studied Government at Cornell University, began photographing street life after a five year trip to Japan. His focus on the relationship with the subject and the relativistic nature of photography brings to the table new ideas of the role of the medium in today’s day and age.

An auction of 19th and 20th century photography will be lead by auctioneer Yael Le Moüel at the Cour Fanton. The selection includes images by Man Ray and Brassaï ranging between 100 and 4,000 USD.

To close, the Night of the Year party will take place at the abandoned paper mill Papeteries Étienne, which will be filled with screens showing the works of thirty emerging photographers discovered by the festival’s curatorial team and other art institutions. The party will also host the second edition of BYOPaper — Bring Your Own Paper — an event where visitors can watch thirty selected artists paste their pictures on the walls of Papeteries Étienne until late at night.

Come back tomorrow for another summary of Les Rencontres' most exciting events!
