Throughout history, it was never the people that stayed home that created change, it was those that jumped on the back of the unbridled ideas who made an impact. The uniqueness and creativity that those people instigated, simply by living a little wild, made a lasting legacy on the world. This is a wake-up call to your unruly and daring side to come into the open air!

Today is National Walk On Your Wild Side Day; a day for you to go out and do something that maybe you always wanted to do, but you were too nervous or felt judged by your friends. Ignore all your fears and let go of all of the judgment; don’t worry about the social norms that tie you to complacency; if you want to let loose, what are you waiting for? Today allow yourself to be uninhibited by what is considered socially acceptable.

If you have always wanted to cut your hair and dye it purple, grab a pair of scissors. If you have never gotten the chance to perform on stage, jump on the stage at an open mic night. If you have always thought that it would be amazing to paint your kitchen yellow, take that yellow streak off your back and do it! There is no time like the present, and there is no better day than Walk On Your Wild Side Day.

You only have one life to live, so today is the best day to start living the way you want to really live. Walk On Your Wild Side Day could also be a chance for you to change someone else’s life of someone else. By living your life unencumbered, even just for today, you may inspire someone. You never know who will see you dressed as a medieval queen and feel encouraged to do something they have always been too apprehensive to do.

It is time for you to go out and do something fearless; go out and let that freak flag fly; do something no one expects you to do. Today be unpredictable. Go to an upscale restaurant without a reservation, sign up for a 5k, get a Master's degree.

Today go do something they said you would never be able to do.
