New York is an iconic city. Times Square, the Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty are all internationally recognizable landmarks, and you can be sure millions of people from Calcutta to Copenhagen have dreamed of biting into one of New York's famous soft pretzels or riding down 5th Avenue in a yellow taxi. This is not the New York I am interested in. Using my camera phone as my tool, I will spend my summer capturing the subtle and quiet beauty that lies in the details, the unexpected, and the overlooked. Though I am not a native New Yorker, I am no tourist. The photos in this series will never be found on a postcard, but they are integral parts of New York life - you just need to know where to look.
