NEW YORK – Gizmodo, the go-to authority for technology news and digital culture, is partnering with Intel to present a highly
interactive exhibition celebrating a collection of photographs from The Intel-Inspired Ultrabook™ Shooting Challenge.
The exhibition will be free and open to the public at
329 Broome Street between Bowery & Chrystie Street in Manhattan, November 15, 2012 from 11 AM – 6 PM.
A press preview will take place on November 14, 2012 from 7 – 9 PM.
The Shooting Challenge is an ongoing Gizmodo feature that provides readers
with an opportunity to experiment with a new photography theme announced every week.
The Intel-Inspired Ultrabook™ Shooting Challenge has taken these ongoing competitions to the next level by expanding the
contest to the professional realm with accomplished photographers Taylor Davidson, Diana Levine, Douglas Sonders, Ryan
Russell, Scott Rinckenberger, and Steven Taylor. These photographers were selected to venture to six different cities, offering
Gizmodo readers a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process and how the Ultrabooks™ enhanced their experiences.
InstaDerby, a popular Instagram-powered contest experience, follows the same formula of challenging people from around the
globe to take pictures of a weekly theme, and encourages followers to vote on submissions. A specialized InstaDerby contest has
been developed to honor the global aspect of The Intel-Inspired Ultrabook™ Shooting Challenge where people are encouraged to
take pictures of things that inspire them in their cities during the week of November 12-19 and submit them under the hashtags
#mycity and #instaderby for a chance to win an Ultrabook™.
The exhibition will engage visitors with:
Exhibited photos from the six photographers along with looping film footage of the artists’ behind the scenes experiences. Photos hashtagged #mycity or #ultrabookspotted will be printed via Instaprint and gifted to gallery visitors.
Photos submitted to InstaDerby via #mycity and #instaderby will be shown on a digital display in the gallery. Visitors will be able to vote for InstaDerby live at the gallery with on-site Ultrabooks.
Six Ultrabook™-powered photobooth installations featuring themes of the six cities of The Intel-Inspired Ultrabook™ Shooting Challenge. Photos will be taken with a desktop version of Instagram where attendees can tag themselves.
A private reception will be held with the photographers on November 14 from 7 – 9 PM to present the collection of photos and
videos to invited guests. The Intel-Inspired Ultrabooks™ used in each challenge will be available for attendees to engage with.
A panel discussing photography and inspiration with the featured photographers will be held on Nov.15 from 6-6:30PM.
This interactive exhibition is not only reflective of the skilled insight of the celebrated photographers but also of an encouraged
creative global participation that can only be achieved when we work with Ultra-Sleek, Ultra-Responsive Intel-powered
Ultrabooks™ that is “sleeker, lighter, faster, more responsive, and longer lasting.”
