Zhang Jingna is a photographer originally from Beijing now working out of New York City. Growing up in Singapore, her active imagination gave her aspirations of living in space with characters from some of her favorite Japanese shows. She attended school at Raffles Girl’s School and Lasalle College of the Arts before deciding to leave school. Shortly after this she published her very first photo book “Something Beautiful” A true show of the diversity of artist backgrounds, during her upbringing she enjoyed anime, piano, micromouse, and even playing in her very own cover rock band. As she grew older the inspirations that surrounded her as a child began materializing more and more clearly in her work. Her series Motherland Chronicles is full of shots of women in ethereal scenes that something out of a fantasy book. Clearly also paying homage to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood the pictures are a direct reflection of her interests.
