For Freedoms at Jack Shainman
By: Charles Pryor
The first artist-run super PAC, “For Freedoms,” is currently on display at Jack Shainman Gallery’s 24th Street location, with an expansion of the exhibit at their 20th Street location, until August 5th . By presenting images about the power of money in politics, the goal of the group exhibition is to alert and encourage participation in righting this corrupt system.
Rather than taking a stance and throwing support to one side of the political debate, For Freedoms presents multiple perspectives from nearly 50 artists. Furthermore, the ultimate goal of the exhibition is to stimulate discussion and critical thought by forcing us to face these unsavory realities.
To further engage the public, several pieces are framed as ads or prepared for display on billboards. People can also register to vote at this exhibition.
