Rachel Stern’s first solo show at Black and White Project Space demands us to reimagine the way we think about death. The traditional associations of the macabre with its forbidden misty graveyards and long-buried bones will not be found here. Yes, Death diverges from the dark and serious with some unexpected touches—a variety of pastel colors and pink bouquets, for example.  The result is a reconfiguration of the language of death and burial. The traditional cemetery becomes not a place to be avoided, but a place for fun, leisure, and whimsy.

The show will be on display at the Black and White Project Space until July 31st, 2016. For more information see: http://www.blackandwhiteprojectspace.org/rachel-stern/
