El Museo De Barrio's Spring Gala

On May 12, El Museo del Barrio hosted its 23rd annual Gala honoring Ruben and Isabel Toledo for Corporate Excellence in the Arts with M.A.C Cosmetics. The Annual Gala was also an opportunity to pay homage to the late Puerto Rican fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez. The latter precedes the upcoming exhibition “Antonio Lopez: Future Funk Fashion,” that will open on June 14.
El Museo del Barrio’s annual Gala is a fund-raising event that allows the museum to continue lending its support to Latino and Latin American arts and culture. The event welcomes some of the museum’s leading supporters in relation to arts, culture, philanthropy, business and fashion.
This year’s Gala honored a wide variety of artists, from musicians Gloria and Emilio Estefan to renowned Latin American photographers like Mario Testino. The annual Gala’s honorees list also included names like Eugenio López Alonso from the Jumex Foundation, Time Warner Inc. and the Ford Foundation among others.
The funds raised by the event will go towards the museum’s public and educational programs as well as towards expanding its outreach programs. The Gala took place at The Plaza Hotel in New York City on May 12, 2016.
