Flash Fiction: Missing the Train

A whole Saturday was spent laughing. Their bellies hurt as they raced down the hill, still half a mile from the station but not willing to give up.
They bumped into each other, buzzing off each other’s energy. She heard the train and knew they would have to take the next one and that she wouldn’t mind. Not when he was there.
A few minutes later and they were collapsing onto the station bench, the smoke of the train trailing away towards the east.
He boldly leaned onto her, exaggerating his exhaustion strategically. And she wrapped her arms around him.
